See the white streak in the middle of this baby's forehead? Shodu has this, and she gives it to all her babies:

Here's Miss Shodu herself:

He may not have actual chest spots, but he has the blaze and the wing speckles. I'm not 100% sure that this makes him an official spot gene baby but I think it probably does. I suspect that the birds who have the blaze and speckles but don't have chest spots probably have the same genes as the ones who DO have chest spots, they just aren't as well marked. All of Buster and Shodu's non-lutino babies have the blaze and speckles, but only about a fourth of them have the chest spots.

I'm eventually going to write an article about the spot gene for the website. I need to collect some pictures and yours are good. Can I please have your permission to save them and use them?

That's really nice wing speckling by the way. A lot of my spot gene babies don't have nearly that many.

Getting back to something I missed earlier... if Bubu has a whiteface brother, that means that both parents have the WF gene. If one parent was visual whiteface, Bubu is definitely split to it. If both parents were split whiteface not visual, the odds are 2 out of 3 that Bubu is split WF.

Unfortunately I don't remember Bubu's parents, but I have seen his brother last year when I picked Angelina up, and he is a very pretty young gentleman, he's a visual whiteface and he's now one of the breeders.
Who knows what Bubu's destiny and job would have been if he stayed with the breeder... I had the choice between him and his brother, couldn't choose so the breeder chose for me. The rest is history :D

Sadly I have no good pictures of him as a baby, I didn't even have a phone with a proper camera.
This picture below was taken the same day after he arrived, or the day after (can't remember precisely!), very blurred but you can see the line above his beak.
I knew next to nothing about cockatiels at the time, what a shame I lost record of so many things!

Here he's 4 months old and the line has already started to disappear.
He also had other white markings on his face, notably two "eyebrow" spots, they all went away at about that same age.

Yes, I can see his little mini-blaze. The 'eyebrow' markings might have been head stripes. You can see little stripes on the side of Squeebis's head in this photo, behind his eye and cheek spot. There are also some tiny marks below the cheek spot. Head stripes are one of the less common markings so Bubu was lucky to have them!
