Seems that my chicks would benefit from Roudybush High energy breeder food, that I was feeding the parents earlier.
"It is designed specifically for breeding birds that are feeding chicks, as well as chicks that are in the post-weaning stage"
but it may not be food for the parents as it would promote breeding mood, right?

I wanted to ask long ago. I put seed in into the bowl and then I add pellets on top of seeds and mix a little bit. Honestly, I don't even know what gets eaten and what isn't. Is it better not to mix different food like this? I have 3 different types of pellets that I bought in panic when chicks were skinny.

It sounds like three of the chicks are able to take care of themselves, but they like the formula and are willing to eat it when it's available. I have adult birds who like to eat baby formula off a spoon.

should I feed them formula or not? Is it still beneficial for them?

another poop question. One baby produced a waste that looked like a dark thin coil in the whitish liquid, I understand this is normal? Soon after this, I believe the same baby made the same whitish liquid but without any dark part. Is it still normal? I will try to read tomorrow.

Are you sure that head scritches are OK when you want to stop breeding? I ask because this is what my hen is asking from even the chicks - she lowers her head asking for a scritch, and she is very hormonal. If they don't respond, I give her one.

If she keeps laying eggs you do need to give the eggs and nestbox back to her. Otherwise it's very likely that she will end up laying more eggs than she would have otherwise, which is not good for her.

I am having a totally nightmare Sunday! The family was waiting for breakfast for 3 hours!
I let her out to eat at 9am, then I wanted to cage her but I couldn't. She kept flying from me in panic, she knows what I was to do with her. I thought, well, she has her egg, its not good to stress her like this, she could get hurt. So I decided to leave her alone. It was getting late (for the egg) she kept checking for spots. I even put a nestbox back into the cage but she refused to notice it. I even opened white cabinet where she had her previous egg, I just wanted her to be over! The dad got in and was chirping to her, but she didn't think it was good enough. Then she got inside another cabinet, I even gave her the bowl with pumpkin seeds. Still not good. Finally, she landed on my head and I got her and put into the cage (I removed the nestbox by then thinking I shouldn't give up this easily). Its 1.30 now and still no egg unless she laid it somewhere else earlier, or maybe she didn't have it at all???
She was laying her previous eggs at about 11am every other day. The last one was laid at almost 12.30 (when I caged her and then let out)
I think that taking her to the bird store for 3 days to a bird hotel would probably help if I did it after her first egg!

If she laid an egg somewhere she will probably try to get back to it. So keep an eye on her and see if there's some particular place that she wants to be.

Ok. IS it right that if she eats, chirps, climbs she apparently has no internal problems? also, when she was trying escape me and was sitting on the curtain rod up high, she passed out something red from her vent (looked like blood but was a small amount)

Would it help to watch if she has that large odorous droppings indicating she is laying eggs? Or, would they only have it due to not pooping in the nestbox?

Let her out of the cage (no egg still found). The first thing she did was mating with Trillie. I am totally confused, I thought she stopped laying eggs. I will just watch her.

This situation is very demoralizing for me. The parents fly like a storm all day long. Guess what chicks doing when parents fly like a storm? They fly like a storm too. I start thinking I should give nestbox and eggs back just to stay sane.
From what they do, I would think that the missing egg should be in the white cabinet. When they have access, they would get in, and chirp in there and hiss at me. But maybe because this was the location of the previous egg she laid on Friday?

Also, our hen lands on people much more than usual. WHat could this mean?
