Their weights are still looking good! If you handle the babies every day they will eventually lose their instinctive fear of you, and will be much tamer than they would have been without this handling.

I handle them when I weigh them and talk to them many tmes during the day. I am going to start taking them out at least one more time during the stay. Chick #1 is starting to get pin feathers. When I hold them I gently rub the top of their head. They are quiet and seem to like it. But they still shake a little. OMG they are so cute!! But they sure are pooping machines.

It's the natural consequence of being an eating machine lol. Their crops are bigger than their heads at this age.

So here are todays stats: Chick #1 15 days 95g, chick #2 at 13 days 79g and chick #3 11 days 65g. They are moving around a little. I have had them out of nestbox for a little while several times during the day. They are getting when I talk to them and gently rub their little heads they get quiet.

Chick #1 is a whiteface. When will I be able to tell if they are cinnamon? Bitsy is a cinnamon pearl pied and Roscoe a cinnamon pied. Both must be split to whiteface since I have a whiteface baby. Chick #2 is developing a real yellow crest. Chick #3"s crest is not showing enough yet.

I am so technically challenged. I spent an hour tonight trying to load pictures onto photo bucket. I wonder if I am on the wrong sight in that it does not look at all like the directions Mel has posted. I have put pictures on TC.

If both parents are cinnamon pied then all the babies will be cinnamon pied too - there's no other option. They can have other mutations in addition, and if you get any cinnamon lutino chicks you'll mostly see the lutino. You'll know more about their coloring when they start to feather out. When you see yellow/white pinfeathers in areas that should be dark, those are pied feathers, so you'll have an idea of how heavily pied the babies will be even before the pinfeathers start to bloom into real feathers.

Like most websites, Photobucket has continued to evolve. The instructions on the forum are old and outdated, but so far I've been to lazy to change them. If you have any specific questions we can try to help!

I am starting to see some actual feathers on chick #1. I am seeing BLACK. I do not think these chicks are cinnamon. I am beginning to think that Roscoe is not the daddy. I had suspected that there was mating that happened before I actually saw Roscoe and Bitsy doing the deed because the first egg was laid only a few days--maybe 5--after I saw them.Smokey has always chased after Bitsy and now I am wondering if he mated with her first.

Smokey is a whiteface pearl. Don't know if he has any splits. I guess only tme will tell.

What color are Roscoe and Bitsy? Sorry if you've mentioned it before, but I don't remember.

Bitsy is cinnamon pearl pied and since we have a whiteface must be split to whiteface. Roscoe is a cinnamon pied and also must be split to whiteface.

Now I remember talking about them! If both parents are cinnamon pied then all the babies have to be cinnamon pied. If you're getting chicks in a different color, then either mom has a secret lover or someone else has been laying eggs in the nest.

Smokey is a whiteface pearl. I have a feeling that he also mated with Bitsy. He is easily intimadated by Roscoe and Bitsy and has always backed away. After Roscoe and Bitsy mated he was much more aggressive with Roscoe and they were fighting to the point I would have to catch Smokey and hold him for a while. I am goig to feel bad if he is the father. Today while I had the chicks out he came over and was looking at them. He looked like he wanted to nudge them a litle but he kept his distance. Roscoe has been a great father and is vey protective of the chicks when they are in the nestbox.
