True medical emergencies include egg binding (where a hen is unable to lay an egg that's inside her body), a baby that can't hatch out of the egg without help, parents not feeding a baby, babies who aren't growing at the proper rate or are sick, and splay leg (where the baby's legs always point in the wrong direction).
