I ordered 4 dummy eggs from dummyeggs.com I tried looking on eBay and Amazon with no luck.

I also switched formulas! I had Kaytee exact and heard it was terrible. So, when it finished, I got Lafeber's instant nutri-start. It say thatvit will make the babies gain weight which they need. I already gave them 2 full feedings. :)

I've used the Lafebers and I liked it, although it was hard to get all the lumps out. I also like Zupreem Embrace but it thickens up a LOT. It's best of all when I blend the two of them together lol.

L  L

I noticed the clumps...I have to mix it a lot to get them dissolved. Kaytee and Lafeber's are the only brands that pet smart had.

You're lucky to even find the Lafebers in a store, a lot of places only have Kaytee. If you want any other brands you usually have to order them online.

Why isn't Kaytee a good hand feeding formula for babies?

I have formula on hand for later to co-parent with. All I could find was Kaytee. I know they had a problem a couple of years ago and their were chicks that died but I no that has been solved. So I am curious also. I have time to take back what I have and order something else.

There's nothing really wrong with Kaytee, but most people who have tried other brands like the other brands better. Some people aren't crazy about the way Kaytee smells (including me). It mixes up 'thin', meaning that if you had a teaspoon of Kaytee formula powder and a teaspoon of a different brand, you'd need to add about twice as much water to the other brand to get the same thickness in the mixed formula. So a pound of Kaytee won't go as far as a pound of a different brand, and it contributes to the general impression that this isn't the world's greatest formula.

It's fine as far as the nutritional value goes, and any brand can have issues with a bad batch getting produced. Several years before the Kaytee fiasco there was a problem with Zupreem handfeeding formula that caused the death of some babies. It's just one of life's risks.
