Should I add salted sunflower seeds to my guys diet? I cook their egg in a little butter each day so I thought they would be getting salt thru it. Or do you just add salt if their is a plucking problem? I would rather prevent than correct if possible.

There's no way to estimate the exact perfect amount of salt in the diet, but it's probably OK to give them a small amount of salted sunflower. I'm going to try this with my breeder birds, and I'm thinking maybe half a dozen seeds per day for each pair. Excessive salt is bad and sunflower seed is delicious, and I don't want them to overeat it. They have other sodium sources if they need more.

Everything is good with Betsy and Roscoe and the little ones. It just amazes me to watch them be parents. You can really see Roscoe's wild nature kick in. Yesterday when we had the babies out I had put him down on the floor and had the cage doors closed. I wasn't watching him but all of a sudden he was on top of the cage and ready to jump down in the nestbox.

Today I let him out for a minute while I was changing the water and refilling bowls and he spent his time foraging on the floor looking for food. In the past he has done this a little when out of the cage but now it is so pronounced.

And for me I have some good days but it is a long, hard journey as I work toward finding my new normal. I tire quickly and am tired of crying, tired of being sad and tired of not caring about anything. I do thank you for asking--it helps.
