Is there someone reliable to take care of the birds while you're gone? Babies in the nest need careful attention to make sure they're healthy and being taken care of properly.

Yes, my sister. Though, I do have some reason to be worried. She has a reputation of being kinda, um....lazy. I often find myself taking care of her birds....unfortunately. I just hope she comes through.......

I'm back. When I came home, I found one of my chicks dead in the nestbox........:'( I think it chilled to death. The baby isn't a lutino, unfortunately. It's an albino.......I think the eyes give it away :)

I'm sorry you lost the baby. Is the surviving baby (or babies) OK?

In cockatiels, an "albino" is a whiteface lutino - it takes two mutations to get an all-white bird with red eyes. The baby in your picture is a lutino but it isn't whiteface unless my eyes are deceiving me - the fuzz looks yellow to me. A whiteface baby would have white fuzz not yellow. If you look at my signature, Teela and Mims are lutinos. Snowy is a whiteface lutino.

I'm so sorry you lost him/her :(

Any baby that is a whiteface will have white down. This baby is a lutino.
