I bought some plastic carpet runner at Home Depot for about a dollar a foot and keep it under the cage as a floor protector. It catches most of the bombs that are dropped off the side of the cage. But when Shodu is breeding she has a talent for getting further out than that and letting go.

great idea. I am going to look for it. My tiels seem to throw seed as well as poop over the edge. Also would catch feathers and it sounds like it would be easier to clean up.

CHICK NUMBER 1 IS HERE. It is a little yellow fuzz ball. I forgot how tiny they were at first. The feeding frenzy has also started

Chick #1 is doing well. Weighed in at 7g this am. H/S looks good, food in the crop and was chirping when I took H/S out of nestbox to be weighed.

Chick #2 is here. Another little yellow puff. I am hoping that I get another whiteface, so maybe in the 2 remaining to be hatched.

I can't remember what the parents look like but I think neither one is visual whiteface. If that's right, then both of them are split and statistically you can expect 25% of your babies to be visual whiteface. If one of the parents is visual whiteface that expectation goes up to 50%.

Bitsy is cinn pearl pied split whiteface; Roscoe is emerald pied split whiteface and pearl. I amexpecting pied babies, maybe pearl pied, whiteface pied and whiteface pearl pied.
