This section is tolerable.
Parrotlet-65dB

Budgies- 68dB

Cockatiels- 75dB

Lovebird- 83dB

Poicephalus- 89dB

This section is level of sound of which sustained exposure results in hearing loss and immense pain.
Lorikeet-90dB

Caique- 93dB

Pionus-96dB

This section of sound can cause permanent hearing loss in only a short exposure time. This sound level causes high amounts of pain, with the exception of the deaf, hearing impaired and those used to hearing these sounds.
Macaw- 105 dB

Quaker-113dB

Eclectus-115dB

Amazon- 124dB

Cockatoo-135dB-155dB

Conure-155dB

This was only for decibels. Not for pitch or consistency. Although I might like to add, the conure is at the bottom from the nanday conure. Cockatoos also vary, the moluccan being the absolute loudest. I got it off of this site here:
http://www.parrotforums.com/general-par ... evels.html

This is why, I shall stick to the little 'uns.

Is that really true that you can lose your hearing? I was actually thinking of getting a Macaw when I'm older (it was just a daydream). I guess I won't be dreaming that anymore.

I really want a Quaker. I'm going to get an F050 and have 2 Quakers when I'm older and living in my own house. I'm still thinking it through.

Please let me move in with you. Except I'd build you an indoor aviary.

I still dream about my BCC, but if a nanday can get that loud, a blue crown shouldn't be too far down behind it. I've heard they reach 108dB. I can't believe a pionus is louder than a caique! Really?

Although I did think my lovebird Teak was loud too.

My vet says that when they clip a large macaw, the employees are required to wear earplugs. It's a violation of OSHA standards if they don't!

At the meetings of my local pet bird club we have a low-cost grooming service. Most of the big birds are fairly OK with being handled for clipping, but when we get a cockatoo that's really unhappy about it, I'm surprised that people two blocks away aren't calling the police to report a murder in progress. The screaming is LOUD.

Then on the other hand there are people who can't tolerate budgie chatter because it's too loud for them.

Sometimes when Silver is riding on my shoulder and we go into another room he and the other two flock call. Silver's flock call on my shoulder is really piercing. Fortunately, it's usually only one. I do worry a little, but not enough to ban him from my shoulder.

Emma continues to be a noisy female. She chirps continuously for a long time after I return them to their cage after their morning fly time. I'm trying to just ignore it. She quiets down later in the day.

I'm okay with budgie chatter, but I have heard that can get under people's skin.

When Teak shrieked off the top of my head, my ears rung.

Pionus can be much louder, but they're considered one of the quietest parrots because they vocalize infrequently and "wheeze" when they're upset instead of scream.

Pionus scream

Actually, she is relatively quiet. This is what a screaming pi sounds like:

And here's the caique:

I know pionus don't aren't really that loud, but what I don't understand about them is when they are, how the heck are the louder than that? ^
