I've never heard either one of them scream in real life, but the youtube caique screaming made my cockatiels take off flying. The pi didn't do that.

I should record JJ when he's wound up sometime. He's the loudest cockatiel I've ever known. And one of his favorite sounds to imitate is a conure scream. Whoever bred him must have had a couple.

He's also started imitating the parrotlets' "annoyed" chatter, which always starts the parrotlets going and they are also loud. Not macaw loud, but louder than a 30-gram bird has any right to be.

I have an opposite question - how well can cockatiels hear? Any info on their hearing? I mean, when they sleep in the living room and I am washing dishes in the kitchen with no door between us, is it for them like Niagara Falls?

I'm sure they can hear it but I don't know if it's loud to them... even if my husband and kiddo are home and watching TV and talking and all the normal household noises going on, Coyote can hear me put the key in the door to unlock it several rooms away when I come home from work, because he'll start with his loud calling sound. Sometimes he'll hear me before I even put the key in the door, like maybe my footsteps outside? So if yours are like mine, then they can hear pretty well. Better than we can.

My Peach hears my husband's truck come in the driveway and starts whistling for him. He's her true love! :)

Oh my. That must be LOUD! I can ever imagine clipping a macaw. I would have to hold him with 3 thick towels with extra help from 4 more people.

I've been near macaws when they let off. It is ridiculously loud.
