It's hard to tell what triggers them sometimes. We're just a few days away from the summer solstice, so the days will start getting shorter soon. Maybe she will be able to detect this (for example by listening to when the wild birds sing) and it will discourage her from laying any more eggs.

Thank you.
As I watch her sitting, I think how devoted she is. I do not have the patience for things such as she has sitting on those eggs. I admire her and feel much love for her.

The devotion of parent birds IS pretty impressive. I like to watch them feeding a tiny newly hatched chick on the rare occasions when I get the opportunity. They do it with incredible tenderness.

Here is a video for you. It's Marsh and Bio feeding a newly hatched chick.

Actually, that was Bio doing all the work. Marshy ate a feather.

Cute video, H.
Emma was done with her eggs as of this morning. Yesterday afternoon she was still rolling them around and tenderly getting them all under her. This morning, when I uncovered the cage, she was up on a high perch instead of on the eggs. Today, she's out and about and behaving like a normal bird. I'm glad.

Whoops! I spoke too soon. She's back on the eggs. I guess she just took a break.

Are you still giving her long nights? That might prevent her from starting a new clutch after she gives up on this one.
