She started Handfeeding when the chick was 7 days old. The chick was red and dry until I told her to switch the water to coconut water, after she did that the dehydration signs disappeared.

The parents abandoned them so it's true the parents didn't do the job right.

Will the baby start catching up now or is it because the formula is too thin?

She just updated the thread with pics of the chick and its poop. Can you check it out Carolyn and see if I guided her right?

Nevermind I think I did guide her right cause thing chick gained 3 grams! The chick has been 17 for the past couple of days. She made the formula thicker.

As long as it's fed appropriately, the baby will gradually catch up and develop into a normal-looking cockatiel. It's possible that it might always be a little on the small side, but it will be OK.

Here is a quote from the author. I don't know what to tell her.

Quote:
Okay, i'm really concerned about this.. There is bubbles in her poop, and according to everything i've read, that indicates gas or infection. I don't have an avian vet here, and the closest one is in Sydney which is 3.5 hours from me, so all i've got is google, you guys, Susanne and the phone (I call the vet in sydney if I have concerns).

I called sydney vet and she didn't seem very concerned with it, but should I be worried? I've heard that most bacterial type infections generally smell bad, and it doesn't have an odor at all really, so I don't know if that helps.

Any ideas?

It's normal to have bubbles in the poop occasionally, and I don't know what causes it. If there are bubbles in the poop all the time it could be a problem.
