Stunting and underweight is usually a feeding issue. Either they aren't getting enough food or they aren't digesting it properly. When they aren't digesting it properly, it's generally because the food itself isn't appropriate (too hard or not moist enough, and in the case of handfeeding it might not be warm enough) or because there's a yeast infection or bacterial infection causing problems. The key to solving the problem is to figure out what's causing it and then do something to solve that problem. Susanne's websites have some excellent articles on dealing with stunting and crop problems, so I'd suggest that you go there and do some reading! :)

The reason I asked was because there is a lady on TC who has a chick that the parents abandoned. The chick is right now 11 days old. Here is a picture of him at 10 days old. I'm really trying to help her.

Oh, poor little guy (or gal), I hope he makes it. Isn't he supposed to be growing out pin feathers and less t-rex looking at 10 days?

The OP of that thread called a vet and she thinks she has a small yeast infection. She's going to make the yeast infection remedy.

How long has she been handfeeding the chick? If she just started recently, the stunting is probably due to the parents not doing their job right, and the baby will catch up now that it's being well fed. If she's been doing it longer than that, it's possible that the formula is too thin and the baby isn't getting enough calories.

He looks pretty good actually, apart from being stunted and behind on his development. There aren't obvious glaring signs of a yeast infection.
