Like the title says, I think this is going to be interesting. My cockatiel pair AND my parakeet pair started laying eggs at the same time. I candled both birds' eggs and the development seems very close....apart from size of course. I know the cockatiel's hatch dates are about 3 weeks. What about the parakeets? Are the eggs going to hatch at the same time?

Nice to see you back. Did you get more budgies?

I think the budgie egg will hatch sooner.

Welcome back Hannah!

Budgie eggs hatch at the same time cockatiel eggs hatch--18-21 days. Good luck with the chicks! Any updates on the lutino baby you had last year?

Thank you both. And yes I did get new budgies. My neighbor was getting rid of hers and asked if I wanted them.

And as for my lutino, she flew out the window about 2 weeks ago. I have failed as a bird owner.

Thank you guys. Anyway, I'll try to update as often as I can. My pair is Frost and Thunder......I think I've posted pics of them.....is there any way I can guess what the babies will look like? Frost has 5 eggs and Gracie has 4. How many eggs can I expect Frost to lay?

5 is a good number. Usual budgie clutches are 4-6 eggs.

My cockatiel eggs usually hatch at 16-18 days, with day 17 being the most common. The time to hatch can vary somewhat depending on your weather conditions.

I guess I'll see if she lays another. I guess I didn't mention, this is my first time breeding parakeets.....hoping its similar to cockatiel breeding. I didn't know the weather had anything to do with hatching eggs.
