Can someone tell me the approx incubation age of this cockatiel egg? I'm guessing around 8-9 days but this is new to me.

Here is the video of me candling it today:

That's definitely a fertile egg lol. It's hard to judge the stage of development though. There's a series of candling pictures of orange-winged amazon eggs here: http://beautyofbirds.com/eggtoparrot.html The pictures look pretty similar to your egg, and for the first few days the pictures all look sort of alike.

I saw that site and that's why I guessed at the 8-9 weeks. Being so new to this though, I didn't know if you could look for something I don't know to look for. Lol. I will keep you posted!

Btw, my female is spending lots of her time off the nest this evening all of sudden. She and the male are once again cuddling and kissing and picking at each other. I hope she doesn't lay many more eggs:( And, the fertile egg needs to stay warm and I'm afraid it won't with her off the nest so much. I will keep an eye on her. If she stays off it too much, I may need to pull the egg. But then, she will likely lay more... Decisions, decisions. Lol

If you've got good bedding in the nest and the house temperature is comfortable for humans, the eggs should stay warm for at least half an hour without a parent sitting on them. There are so many of them that it would take a while for all the heat to dissipate!

Good! I hv about 2-3 inches of crosscut shredded white paper in there so I'm sure they are okay then...she can keep it alive easier than me (a rookie lol).

Would you like to try pine shavings for the bedding? I bought the one that is not compressed at Petsmart, and those shavings are soft.
I wonder how well paper will absorb poop when it's time for babies to poop

Wood shavings are generally preferred over paper (aspen or pine, stay away from cedar). I use aspen shavings with my babies. We have an article on nestboxes and nestbox beddding: http://www.littlefeatheredbuddies.com/i ... boxes.html

Thanks for the info. I actually purchased the Care Fresh white bedding for the brooding box. Is that going to be a problem? I had read that it's best for keeping the babies warm.
