There are a couple of mutations that are dominant over normal grey. Dominant yellow cheek is one of them and dominant silver is the other one.

Sex-linked mutations have special inheritance rules - this means lutino, pearl, cinnamon and SLYC. The inheritance rules are different for girls and boys. Girls can only get these genes from their father (it doesn't pass from mother to daughter) and if she gets the gene from dad she'll be visual for the mutation. She won't get any kind of matching gene from mom so it doesn't matter what mom looks like. Boys have to get the gene from both parents to be visual. It's complicated stuff, but the complete explanation is here: http://www.littlefeatheredbuddies.com/i ... inked.html

I've been reading through some of it and tried the link with the calculator.

Is it possible that Ed is normal grey split to whiteface X2 PEARL? What makes you say he is Pearl split to whiteface? Am I missing something by looking at him?

The intensity of his markings makes me think that he's a visual pearl whose pearls are fading away. But a pearl split will cause ghost pearling, and it's possible that he's a split pearl with very intense ghost pearls.
