Hello all!

My grandfather on mothers side gave me a present today... He noticed I had this lone finch in the aviary and got me this:





It's a goldfinch. I'm excited because I know these guys can cost like 130 EURO a piece! I hope he adapts really well.

I have him in solitary for now and I'll be leaving for a vacation soon with my mom coming over to feed the birds so I hope all goes well...

That's a goldfinch? I don't think I've seen one that actually looks like that. Well, I probably have, at the bird show. I don't remember the finches very well.

He's so colorful! When I hear "goldfinch", I think of the lesser goldfinch, which I see pretty often.

The internet is saying that this beautiful new bird is a European goldfinch. I'd never heard of them before, but they're gorgeous! If you want to breed him, you'll obviously need to buy a female lol.

I don't know how many goldfinch species there are, but at least two species are native to the US. The American goldfinch is the best known, but I'm a lot more familiar with the lesser goldfinch that Jessi posted. They're very common here in the Tucson area.

We have american goldfinches everywhere around here.

Well, it's pretty common to crossbreed them with canaries overhere. So that's what I'm going for.

Basicly he'll be in the aviary with the canary hens that I haven't selected for breeding. So he'll be free to do as he likes. But I'm hoping for a nest

Can you breed him with your zebra hens? If I remember correctly, you said that your black cheek cock died recently.
