So im gonna be breeding the Cockatiels in about 2-3 weeks time.The weather has improved over the last few days and its almost Spring, Today was a very warm day nice and sunny too.And somebody is already interested in buying a baby,He wants a Male tame baby which is what he would get anyway since my babies will be Tame,Socialised as much as possible and harness trained.

It might take some time for them to get completely comfortable in their new location so don't be surprised if they don't go for it right away. On the other hand, the mice running around in your room probably would have made them too scared to breed, and they'll probably feel safer in the new location.

Also guess what I found in their new location an actual mouse hole the shape of a semi circle like Tom and Jerry lol but I blocked it up so its mouse proof.By the way you got me thinking are Birds like Hamsters? They eat their babies if there is any danger around.

Toucans will do that but cockatiels won't. The biggest problem with cockatiels is that if they get scared during the night, they'll leave the nestbox in a panic and won't go back in until there's enough light for them to see what's inside. The eggs and babies can get chilled without a parent sitting on them, and that can be deadly.

The room needs to be mouse-free if you're going to breed. Otherwise the birds will hear the mice running around in the darkness. But they won't see the mice, so they won't know what's out there and whether it's dangerous or not. So they'll be nervous.

Well all holes are blocked and it will be easy to keep the area clean so the mouses wont even get to discover that the tiels have been moved lol.It will be fun breeding and im gonna start buying stuff ill need next week.Will I need another cage for putting weaned babies in? The room the cockatiels are in is completely bird proof and there are no windows or wires.The babies will be parent raised.

The parents start to lose interest in the babies after they're weaned, but they continue to get along with them as members of the same flock. You can keep them in the same cage if it's big enough to hold them all without overcrowding.

Ok thats good.How many times can Cockatiels breed each year.Once?

Most of the money I get from these babies will be getting saved for future vet care you never know what might happen.Also if I wanna buy more breeding equipment.

But cockatiels are opportunistic breeders who want to keep going, and most of the time the human has to make an effort to get them to stop. They usually start thinking about a new clutch before the current clutch has even left the nest, so it's not as easy as just taking the nestbox down after the babies fledge.

And can they lay more eggs when the current babies are still in there? Since im new to this I should probably just let them do one clutch.I think Loki will be a great mother since she prefers birds than people.Rocko behaves as if he was hand reared he prefers people.
