It takes a lot longer for pearl pied males to lose their markings. The pied mutation interferes with the normal changes in coloring that males go through. So Rocko could be all boy even though he still has his pearls. If he does a lot of male behavior you can be pretty sure of it.

Well if time goes by and nothing happens you might want to get a DNA test lol. But if he's really a boy, having a nestbox will probably give him ideas. If you get 10 infertile eggs in the nestbox it's a strong clue that "he" is actually a girl.
