The nest box arrived yesterday, and the second level for the budgie cage arrived today. The second level is needed so that I have a door for the nest box and also a door for me to use to change paper, etc. I will set it up tomorrow.

I've been chatting to the budgies about the fact that this is going to happen, and how exciting it is going to be, and how it's just for them, not any of the other 2 birds.

It'll be interesting to see how they react when the box is actually up!

Slight delay! When I went to put the second story on the budgie cage, I discovered I needed four corner clips. I ordered those, and they will be here Monday.

I just got to watch a lengthy courting ritual between Piper and Winter. He chirped to her, danced for her, and kissed her, over and over. I kept wondering when he was going to get down to it.

Finally, he had one foot on her back, and brought the other one on, but immediately fell off!

Then, he went through the whole performance again, and when he finally got the second foot up, Winter shook him off. She was definitely encouraging him; She had her tail up in the air and her back curved.

When Piper was courting Emma it was much more straightforward, and no one ever fell off.

Oh, wait, now he seems to have given up on Winter and he's courting Emma.

There are some really nice things about a Vision cage. And, it's nice that you can expand the cage.

On the other hand, it is such a struggle. I have been wrestliing with turning the Vision 01 small cage into the Vision 02 small cage, but 1-1/2 times as high. Getting all these little plastic connectors into position so you can actually click them is a beast!!

I have had to put it aside for at least a day, because I got to the point that I started throwing the pieces at the wall. Sad, but true.

Putting cages together is never fun. I'm always shocked on the rare occasions where it actually turns out to be easy.
