I’ve only ever DNA tested once. I’ve used the blood method. I ordered a blood and feather sample to DNA test Cashew. I’m not sure what to use since he’s pretty young andl lovebird. What’s your preferred method of dna testing? What hurts less in your opinion?

I've only done DNA testing twice and used blood both times. But it's said that pulling a few feathers from the chest is painless. I saw someone do it once to a bird that they were holding in their hand, and the bird didn't react at all. But I've never had the nerve to do it myself. Clipping a toenail a bit too short does hurt a little, the bird twitches when you do it.

I think I'll do the feather this time around. I watched about 3 videos on youtube, and none of the birds reacted as bad as they did with the nail clipping.

Let us know how it goes! If I ever do another DNA test I'll probably do the feathers, but I'm not sure that I actually have the nerve for it.
