Mama, how could you do this to me?
Yes I know I was very scruffy, and those hard pins on my neck were so painful.
I wouldn't have said no to a bit of spray bottle.
But a BATH? This is unbelievable.

And that's why tonight I will snuggle with dad.
I HATE YOU!

Why did you subject him to such tortures?

OMG that's a funny picture. It's too bad the theme for the photo contest isn't Angry Birds because that photo looks like a winner. The contrast with the nice fluffy "after" picture is great.

Ha! For days and days I had him begging for scritches and as soon as I complied he'd bite me really hard! You wouldn't believe the amount of pin feathers this poor little guy has on his neck, so today I thought ENOUGH. He hasn't spoken to me all day but he seems less cranky, so I guess the heavy bath worked.

He is the real torturer, I am his slave

Poor Bubu. I remember when Jaid wanted scratches and I hit his pins. Ouch! (For both of us).

He looks so angry. How did you bathe him? I would like to try that with marshmallow, she is moulting.

I put about 1 1/2 inches of warm (almost lukewarm) in the kitchen sink. The water level is just enough to touch his underside, I wouldn't put more because Bubu would panic. Other birds like it reaching their wings.
I plopped him in the water and with a little glass started pouring the water on his neck. Then while pouring with the little glass I massaged the water in the neck so that it got really wet. Just pouring the water doesn't penetrate below the outer feathers and I really wanted the pins to get wet.
In the meantime he was trying to break loose flapping around so the rest of the body got wet on its own.
The pic you see is of him after I dry-toweled him a little bit, he really was superwet!
Just be sure that the room is very warm, I am always afraid of them catching a cold after a bath.

I will definetly try that with Bio and Marshmallow. Thank you for the advise and tips. Did he bite you hard? Luckily, my birds don't bite me unless they are breeding but I'm wondering how you managed to do it?

Strangely enough, he doesn't bite me hard. I guess he's more preoccupied with getting out of it
He really is a sweet-natured boy, never vicious with me. The exception is when he sees me grabbing my bag and keys: if he suspects that I am about to go out he does attack me, fly to my face etc.
