The GCC is adorable but I think Poppy would win a cute-off.

We need to have a cute-off contest.

I know what's going on here.... your baby budgie lust has been satisfied but your conure lust hasn't, which makes the conures look extra good to you.

Yes, you are very smart. I love all my birds the same and very much so, but I am always looking for new things to learn about. I am very happy with the budgies, and since they have each other now and keep each other happy, that was goal. But even then, they prefer the company of each other, and sometimes the tiels do the same, so I have been looking for a conure for several years. In fact, I have always wanted a conure first right off the bat, but was advised not to as a first time bird owner, and as a first time owner, I listened. I went with a budgie. That happened to be Jail Bird. Then I rescued my lovebird Teak, then when JB passed away, I got Beck, because I missed her very much. Then Beck was lonely, so I got him Mackenzie. Then when Teak passed away, I adopted Beaker because he was in urgent need of a home. Then I was surprised with Jaid. Then of course, when Beck ended up being abused by Mackenzie, who had to be re-homed, he started to become lonely and missed flock interaction. So of course, I got Poppy. Even through all the rescues and adoptions, I have always wanted a conure. The thing that kept me from getting one was one, the cost, and two, my dad wasn't sure of me getting more of a parroty parrot. Mostly because he was afraid of screaming, but then I showed him a video of one screaming. He joked the tiels can reach higher volumes than that. Either way, it's still quite a while away. So we will have plenty of time to decide if we are a good fit for it.

My experience with the GCC I babysat is that the tiels are higher pitched but he had a louder volume. So I guess it all depends on which type of noise you prefer. But the GCC squawk is nothing compared to a cockatoo scream or a large macaw. When we clip a cockatoo at bird club and the cockatoo objects to it, I'm surprised that people two blocks away don't call the police to report a murder in progress.

They are both very cute! I really hope you will get a conure one day. I know how it is to have a dream (mine was to have a chick) and I know the feeling once you succeeded.

I like poppy's puffy face! Baby cockatiels have that, but it doesn't last.
