Wow what a cage! Like tiel heaven really!! I like how it's designed to have a flat area where you put the play pen on...and it looks like you kept all the chicks?? and there's more new ones...gosh I need to catch up. Your tiel family is growing exponentially lol. :D

Actually my plan is to keep only two chicks: Teela (the second lutino girl from the first clutch) and Snowbird (the whiteface lutino girl from the second clutch). There are a couple of others I'd like to keep, but I have to draw the line somewhere and six cockatiels is plenty for a permanent flock.

So far only two chicks have been adopted out, leaving me with six to go. One of them (Windsor) was adopted yesterday, and someone is thinking about adopting Squeebis. There's a bird mart coming up in a couple of weeks and I might go there as a vendor.

Buster and Shodu wanted to go for a third clutch but I talked them out of it! Mainly by making Shodu sleep in the closet for a couple of weeks so night could last three hours longer for her than for anyone else. That got her out of breeding mode, and now Buster has given up too. I wanted to stick him in the closet too but I needed someone to feed the chicks in the evening.

The playtop on the cage is great. Shodu laid her first egg there (my signal to buy a nestbox). It's also where the chicks did most of their weaning - they liked foraging around on the floor and picking at the greens I hung up.

At this point 5 of the 10 chicks have been adopted out. I think I'm going to keep three of the others - Teela, Snowbird, and Squeebis, even though I had Squeebis DNA'd and he turned out to be a BOY. Boy tiels are great but it'll be a problem if he wants to make bang bang with his sisters later on. But I like his sassy attitude and his punky hairdo and I don't want to let him go. Casper (1st clutch, 2nd chick) and Boogie (2nd clutch, 1st chick) are still up for adoption but I'm not in a huge rush to see them go.
