Here are all eight of them getting ready to spend the night in the same nestbox along with Mims (the long-tailed lutino hen). They actually grew up in three different nestboxes, some with their real parents and some with the foster-parent trio of Vlad, Snowy and Mims. But the real parents have some plucking issues and Vlad and Mims don't, so they're babysitting all eight chicks for the last few nights before the youngest babies fledge. The oldest six have already fledged but they're still wobbly on a perch so they get to sleep in a nest at night.

OMG! they are stunning. i want the baby that is all the way on the bottom of the picture. Pieds are one of my favorite mutations. Also, were the parents plucking because of sodium deficiency? If so, Sussane recommended feeding them salted sunflower seeds.

The baby on the bottom is called Jelly. He(?) is a sweet little grey pied.

The parents have an all you can eat salt buffet, in the form of a salt spool made for rodents. They're plucking because they want the chicks out of the nest. Ladybug is particularly evil. I don't know much about her history - she escaped from somewhere and was found, and immediately laid an egg in her new home. So it's likely that she was a breeder, and maybe she's used to having the babies pulled for handfeeding when they're a couple of weeks old.

Those pieds. Image

Is the lutino near Mims a pastelface? If that's even possible in lutinos. It seems that the cheek patches are diluted in comparison to Mims'.

Pastelface IS possible in lutinos, and it's a lovely combination. But the lutino baby (Tina Tooder) isn't pastelface. Mims has a super-bright cheek patch that's more vivid than all the males in the house except for Vlad. Other lutino hens look pale compared to her, including Teela.

Jelly is short for Magellan, because he traveled around the nest so much when he was a tiny baby. I've never had a chick that wandered away from the others so often. It seemed intentional too, I don't think he was getting lost.

The great big cinnamon pied baby is Heidi Piedy. That name is hilarious IMO. She's definitely a girl but I don't know the sex of the grey pied babies. Odds are two out of three that they're boys so I call them all "he".
