I can't help wondering what he thinks about such huge eggs lol. They're huge to a budgie anyway!

he spent a lot of time scratching around the eggs. I think he was trying to get them under him, but he couldn't do it. the two fake egg are a little smaller.

With budgies, the males don't incubate - the hen does it all by herself and the male's job is to feed her while she sits on the nest. It's my understanding that the hen prepares the nest too. So I don't know what he was doing.

I did not know that. Very interesting. Maybe Piper's BBS makes him think he is a cockatiel.

Do male cockatiels ever sit on eggs?

Yes, the cockatoos have a different incubation pattern than the rest of the parrots. The male sits on the eggs in the daytime while the hen goes out and forages for food (because she laid the eggs after all and needs it more than he does), and the hen sits on the eggs at night.
