Here's a picture of the 3 budgies that came with Statler and Waldorf:

Image

The two white base budgies are males (in the back of the picture)
The budgie on the front row is a hen.
I've named them Daft, Einstein and Marina

They are still sitting in a seperate cage but inside the budgie aviary.
I've opened up the cage door this evening. I hope there won't be any fighting going on.

Specially with Tropicana still feeding her chicks.

They're gorgeous! Especially the hen.

With new birds it's best to have a quarantine period in case any bird has a hidden illness that they could spread to the rest of the flock. It's especially desirable to do this when you have babies in the nest, since the immune system of chicks isn't as strong as the adults.

Hopefully there shouldn't be any fighting, you have a big aviary.

I agree, your hen is so pretty!

The two eldest chicks hatched on the 20th of may. The youngest (of five, so he's got to be a fighter to get his meals) hatched 30th of may. I was too late to put a ring on the first two chicks... They grow so fast and it's my first year trying to put rings on my birds, it's been a pain so far. I have a hard time deciding when to put on the rings and have lost a few by being to early and missed a few by trying again when it was too late...

I know I decided to only keep 2 male budgies, but after looking at the newcomers it's so hard to sell one off. Today I'm thinking about keeping my 3 hens (Tropicana, Little Lemon and Marina) and 4 of the 'studs' (Mr Green, Banana, Daft and Einstein) I would then wait to see who pairs up with whom and if I like the combo, move them into a breeding cage, wait 2 weeks to see if the love still blossoms and then put in a nestbox. (not picking Little Lemon the first year of course)

Since you all seem to like my aviary, I'll try to take a picture of it from outside. And maybe some more details from inside.

See you!

EDIT: some typo's I saw. + I took pictures of the chicks when I was cleaning them (5 little ones do make a mess) but haven't had the time yet to put them onto the pc and on photobucket. (to be continued)

How cute! It looks like all of them have dark eyes, so if one of them ends up looking like a lutino you can be confident that it isn't really a lutino.

@tielfan: Yes, I did look at the eyes this time! And I came to the same conclusion! Thx for having a look yourself! Also, I think I found some very slight touch of green on the back of Banana. I don't think that would have been the case in a lutino.

@Jan: Thank you. I checked the nestbox again today and I just might have to clean it out again, they really make a mess! The biggest chick has changed a lot (feathers came out further) When I do clean them again I'll take another set of pics.
