So I finally managed to get the baby's younger pictures from my phone to my iPad, and uploaded them to photobucket. These are the pictures the breeder took when the bird was younger. He had barely any feathers at all, due to being plucked.

Also, I decided to name him "Alex", since I figured it's an ok unisex name.

She also sent pictures of the parents, though I don't have them on my iPad yet. The father looks like a a regular male cinnamon whiteface, and the female is a whitefaced Lutino. I didn't see any pearls on the mother, so chances are Alex is a female.

Alex is adorable, but looks more comfortable now that more feathers have grown in.

It's virtually impossible to see markings on a whiteface lutino so the mother could be pearl. If she is, we'll know it when we find out Alex is a boy. If she isn't, we'll know it when we find out Alex is a girl.

Not all the time Mel, but I think he looks red in these pictures, because the feathers are just coming in, and the pins are irritating his skin. Could also be that his skin was pretty irritated when they plucked him, as well.

Indeed, she didn't send me the best picture either of the mother, so trying to find pearls on her would be pretty hard. The only way to truly tell, is if he loses his pearls after the juvenile molt. Either that, or I send his blood in for a dna test.

Yeah, it might depend. I mean, Alex is still pretty pink, but not quite like she was in those pictures.

Zorro looks so adorable! :muchlove: like a little dinosaur baby.

Zorro has a lot of grey fuzz which helps tone down the look of the skin color. Alex is buck nekkid so the skin shows up more. Also, Zorro has a normal amount of melanin and Alex doesn't. I don't know how much melanin parrots normally have in their skin - it's mostly covered up with feathers so they don't need melanin in the skin to protect it from sunlight. But there might be some there for a different reason, so it could make a difference.

Alex looks very pink to me in general. It's possible that it's just a natural variation.

It's a type of pigment that gives the skin a certain color. I think it's in their feathers too, but I don't know.

Melanin is the pigment that causes all the black/grey/brown coloring in the feathers and anywhere else in the body these colors occur (for example the dark eyes and the black in Zorro's feet). Zorro has the normal amount but with Alex it's much paler than normal due to whatever mutation she has. We're still trying to figure out which mutation it is lol.
