Hey all. Sorry I haven't been around. I just really didn't like I had anything to contribute. I haven't even been on any of my regular sites in a several days actually. I'll come back, but sorry if I don't have much to say. Anyways, I figured I would let you all in on how Jaid has been fairing without Beak. His right wing is starting to grow back in, so he's regaining some flight abilities. He has been extremely quiet compared to what I'm used to. Budgie chatter is white noise to me, so it's more like I've just got one bird. Jaid hasn't made his annoying laughy sounds in days. Instead, he's been whistling. He always could whistle, but he liked the laugh sound better. Now I hardly hear it, so with just tiny little whistles, it's almost dead quiet to me. I honestly miss the noise. Must be a bird keeper thing I suppose. What's adorable is when he whistles to his foot. He used to be able to do that as well as Beak, but I always think of Beaker when Jaid sings into his foot. Jaid has been clingy to me, but is progressively getting more independent again. I think once he gets his wing back it'll help. One thing is, he doesn't move around the cage anymore. I mean, he still eats, drinks and eats cuttlebone, but he has 3 main spots where he goes, versus the entire flight cage like he used to. Another thing, he doesn't play anymore. I bought him all kinds of great new toys to get his mind off of what happened, but he hardly pays any mind to them. Hopefully he will soon.

I hope Jaid will fully recover his wing! Thinking about all 3 of you this days... Do you keep working at the pet store or had to take a break?

I was rather confused until I saw the thread in memorials, and I have to say: I am very sorry to hear about this. Beaker was definitely a bird with a lot of personality, and lived a very good life. I honestly wish I could say more than what has been said. I hope you and the birds are doing alright. Sounds like Jaid really misses his partner in crime.

I'm sorry I read this so late, I would never compare your pain about Beaker to the one of anyone else, but it hit me hard and I avoided being around for fear of other horrible news.
Looks to me that Jaid misses his mate very, very much, reminds me of the ominous silence that followed Keith's death. They get so much attached to their friends, only people who had them in their life can appreciate the depth of their attachment to each other.
I don't know whether you have already discussed this in the forum, so what I'm about to say might be out of place, but have you contemplated the idea of giving Jaid a new companion?
It would never replace Beak, but could help Jaid and in time you aswell. I'm sorry if my idea sounds repulsive to you, I mean it with my best intentions. They are flock birds and maybe Jaid misses having a 3—people flock (you being the third member).
You're in my thoughts xx

I was thinking the same but didn't dare to say it out loud...
