My budgie Piper still has some trust issues which i fully expect still. The problem is when i get her out of the cage and put her back. Every time she hops on the food bowl and sits in it like it's a nest. She'll stay there for about 15 mins or so and i was wondering if it would help to get her an actual nest box to make her feel more secure when i put her back in the cage.

If you get a nestbox, she may not even go into it. How old is she? If she is young then putting in a nestbox could encourage her to lay eggs which could lead to egg binding.

If I remember right, your birds aren't mature enough to be breeding. But birds are like human teenagers - they're physically capable of it before they're old enough to do the job right. So it's best to not give them a nestbox until they're old enough to breed.

It's possible that she just likes sitting in the food bowl, a lot of birds seem to enjoy it. But if you think she's getting seriously nesty, I'd go for some hormone control (see http://www.littlefeatheredbuddies.com/i ... mones.html ) and replace that food cup with one that's too small to sit in.
