Yesterday, I was hanging up some clothes out of the dryer. I have a 6 foot tall clothes tree and I brought it out into the living room so I could hang the clothes while I watched TV.

The birds were playing on top of the cage. As soon as I got to the living room with the clothes hanger in hand, all three took off flying desperately around and squawking.

It took me about five minutes to find Silver, who had gotten into a laundry basket in the bedroom. He's not hard to find, because he flock calls back to me when I call me.

Emma wasn't answering when I called. I looked all over for her. I was getting very worried. Finally, I found her sitting quietly on the bottom shelf of a bookcase in the dining room. She still looked kind of scared, so I talked to her a bit before I tried to get her onto my arm. She did come to me, and I took her back to her cage, where she tucked her head into her wing and had a nap.

What kinds of things really spook your birds?

Everything! Wearing colored shirts, girls, hats, towels (that's the worst) I could name a billion things lol.

Heh, girls.

Pulling out the bottom grate to clean it. Doesn't matter if they are in the cage or out, it makes them frightened.

Anything that's different than what they're used to. My guys are leery of me if I'm wearing a shirt that buttons down the front instead of a t-shirt. I'm surprised that cockatiels are that fashion-conscious.

The cat appearing at their window. The Broom (only if handled upside down). Moving newspaper. My yellow bathrobe, they are getting used to it but they hate it. Moving their ropes from a hook to another is considered very dangerous. Every piece of food bigger than 2". Probably what makes them panic the most is when I carry large objects in my arm... I can only imagine their reaction to a 6ft tall object :D

The upside down broom is a lot like the clothes hanger that scared them.

Also, the other day I was wearing glasses instead of contact lenses, and I couldn't get Silver to step up. Took me a while to figure out the problem.

I remember I was getting my senior pictures and put in contact lenses before I left. I got a few suspicious looks from my flock.
