I need to find a males name for my bird. I names him Shodu but heard it was a girls name. I know I don't have to switch it but I want to. It just doesn't feel right when I have a girls name for a boy.

How about Shadow?
He's very pretty. Is he a cinnamon?

He looks sort of like a majestic eagle in the first picture. Here's a list of 175 names meaning eagle: http://babynames.merschat.com/index.cgi ... ning=Eagle

I didn't look through the whole list, but of the ones I saw I liked Griffen the best, but I'd change it to Griffin. That spelling has mythological associations. If you google for griffin and look at the image gallery results you'll see lots of cool pics.

Sorry, I'm still stuck on Spike. I thought it suited him well.

Hmm... let's see, here's a list of my cockatiel names: (yes, I compile a list of them)

Beaker
Rye
Jute
Pita
Jaid
Myrrh
Des
Juno
Whiskers
Shake
Ernest
and Elwood.

Of course, I name the bird what feels right at the time, but I did have Beaker and Jaid on the list, and I thought Jaid would suit my Jaid well.

I have a budgie list, pionus list, parrotlet list, lovebird list and GCC list as well. Just in case. ;)

Hmmm Spike is the name Mr Darcy had before I changed it. I am not very partial to it.
Your boy has a splendid profile, you should find a name that emphasises that. I am thinking roman emperors, those who appeared on gold coins!
As long as you don't call him Caligula you'd be safe
Nero would be a great name for that little sweet face. Or Augustus

Thanks guys. Griffin is a cinnamon pied. I think I can get used to that name. :D

If it doesn't work out, Nero is my second option. Stephanie, I will save these names in case another bird joins the party. :)

He has a very sunshiny face, I googled some sunshiny boys names, I think there are some lovely ones:

Apollo- the roman god that drives the sun across the sky
Ravi- hindu god of the sun
Helios- greek god of the sun
Samson -meaning 'sun', - hebrew
Eleodoro-'gifts from the sun' spanish
Surya- a hindu god of the sun
Ramses-Egyptian, means 'begotten by the sun god, Ra' . I LOVE this name. Will definitely call SOMETHING it, at some point.
Arun- means 'dawn' or 'sun'-hindi or Cambodian

I'll tell you right now I am not crazy about the name Griffin at all. Not even for humans. It feels like a chore to say and doesn't roll off the tongue.

That's my opinion. I think Nero's better actually. I don't mind that one.

Give me more time. I might come up with something.

It's okay. I don't call my birds by their names. I do like once in a while. I have names to tell them apart when I'm online. If I wasn't in any forum then I would not need to name them.
