Hey guys, GREAT news!
Previously, Maya would be just like an untamed bird in the aviary. She would fly away if you get too close, she wouldn't let anyone touch her.
But when I brought her inside the house she totally changes into a super friendly bird that steps up and loves head scratches.
She had something like a double personality. It was frustrating because whenever I brought her back in the aviary, she would instantly change back to untamed.
Do you wanna know what I did to get her to be friendly in the aviary as well?
All I did was bring her inside. (I haven't brought her inside since re last thread I made about her not being friendly in the aviary). I gave her head scratches and all that good stuff. When I opened the towel to release her back in the aviary, she didn't fly away. Instead, she just climbed my shirt and went on my shoulder. I thought she was going to fly away now but she stayed and fluffed herself and started preening. I offered my finger thinking that she would fly away but she only put her head down to get head scratches!
I thought to myself that she probably still doesn't realize that she's back in the aviary. I thought that once I put her back on the perch, she will revert to her old self. I was wrong, she STILL wanted head scratches.
I left the aviary for a couple of seconds and went back inside to see what would happen and she still wanted head scratches.
I didn't make this post yet because I thought that she would definetly change back overnight.
In the morning, I went in the aviary and offered my finger and she was scared and backed away. I thought to myself that she did change and it was too good to be true but I offered my finger one last time and she put her head down. I gave her the best head scratch. The whole day I have been popping in the aviary when I had time and give her head scratches. I can fully say that she is considered tame now.
Sorry for the massive thread.
