The baby is a cinnamon! WOW! I have never seen a baby cinnamon in my life...they are gorgeous!! You probably have a female. That means daddy is split to cinnamon...right Carolyn?

Baby is definitely cinnamon, which means dad has to be split cinnamon because you can't get cinnamon babies unless dad has the gene.

I'm not completely sure what color mom is. I'm inclined to say normal grey, but she has a LOT of yellow on her for a hen and it's kind of skewing my perception. If you could post a couple more pictures we can be more sure of it. If she's normal grey then baby is definitely a girl. But if mom is cinnamon, baby could be either sex. Cinnamon is a sex-linked mutation and the inheritance rules are complicated.

I thought that if the bird was a grey, if it was darker it would be a boy, and if it was lighter it would be a girl! I guess that was a bust. What determines a cinnamon? My pair had a daughter about a year back, I always thought it was a girl! Wow, it could be a boy? Wow, I really need to get my facts straight. But that's what you guys are here for, right? I will post some more pics in a few minutes.

With wild adult cockatiels the cocks tend to be darker than the hens because they get more melanin pigment when they mature. As far as I know, there isn't a gender-related color difference in normal grey babies. Tame cockatiels tend to have a lot of mutation splits which affects their adult coloration, so you can't really go by color intensity in pet birds.

Your baby is a lighter shade of grey because that's what the cinnamon mutation does. The majority of cinnamon cockatiels are females, but the males certainly exist. But sometimes there's an easy way to tell the sex of a cinnamon baby - if mom is NOT cinnamon, the baby has to be female. If mom IS cinnamon it could be either sex.

I think I am going with cinnamon. This was one of the hardest birds I have tried to sex since she looks in between cinnamon and normal grey. I had to literally compare this photo with Bio, my cinnamon male. They look alike regarding colors.

I'm leaning toward cinnamon too.

Also, that face mask is much too yellow to be a normal grey. IMO

That face mask has much too yellow to be a hen lol. But cinnamon girls can have a lot of yellow on their faces sometimes. Here are a couple of my cinnamon babies for comparison.

I want the whiteface! lol

I agree on the too much yellow but this bird has to be a female since she has a baby. (I had to keep reminding myself that)
