Are English budgie bites very bad? They have such a mellow reputation that I wonder if they have much will to bite. Just like some cockatiels will pretend to bite but don't really try to do any harm.

In my limited experience, the difference between bites is more between males and females than English or pet budgies. When I've had to handle my untame little crew, Ninja does seem to bite more and maybe a bit harder than Waffles but the difference is negligible. Cloud, now that little chica can bite and has broken my skin a time or two (one of those times was when I had to handle her to deal with a broken blood feather, so totally understandable!) I'm not sure if female English budgies bite as hard.

With budgies, the females are usually more aggressive than the males. It's the opposite with cockatiels, and males tend to bite harder than females. But they're such a laid-back species that a lot of them don't really bite at all unless they're seriously frightened. They can draw blood when they're really freaked out.

Jaid bites like Tsuka when he's ticked off. Beaker just well, bites, which is very rare. I had B for 2 years before I got his first bite. He always acts grumpy, but just acts like he will bite, when 9/10 times he won't unless he is genuinely upset. Jaid turns into a tasmanian devil.

You can try to let Beck watch but from my personal experience, my birds are much calmer when its only me and them.

Haha! I am once again The Cracked Up over Jaid and Beaker.

Coyote does that thing where he makes the mad sound and if you don't back off fast enough for his royal highness' pleasure, he will do the mini tasmanian devil but none of the bites hurt at all. It's a total laugh because he looks so dang serious and maaaaaaaaad.
