Ive had birds all my life.... so long ago
I cant remember why!

Before I bought Coco and Pip, I had 2 hamsters, but saddly, they died. After like, two months, I wanted to get another one. But my dad told me I should get a bird instead, that these were safer and you could keep them outside in a cage without much attention, but I really just wasn't that much into them. Like 3 months later, I went to visit my family in Arizona, and I knew my uncle had lots of birds, so i took a look at them. They were all pretty and beautiful. But his cockatiel really caught my eye. So I had to look more into them. I found that there were many types of these birds that looked alike, and my favourite was the sulphur-crested cockatoo. But then looked at the price and backed off a little bit lol.

Fortunately, the Arizona bird-mart was going to be there when I was around. So my uncle and his son told me they were going to take me with them. Of course I researched a lot about parrots and other types of birds to get hyped up, I even bought a carrier! I was so excited! And when we got there, as soon as I saw Carolyn selling her tame cockatiels, I knew I'd buy Coco.

And we lived happily ever after... Until he ate my brace!!

And that is my short story on the reason of wich I got my parrots!

I thought I answered this one, but guess I didn't...

So here goes:

I always knew I wanted an aviary with birds so I built my chickencoop with wire high enough to put a roof in later on. Eventually I went to a birdstore where I got 4 of each kind: Zebra Finches, canaries and budgies. 1 cock, 3 hens each. Or so I was led to believe...

Soon enough Bannana turned out to be a cock, not a hen so I expanded in the budgies.

The canaries were pretty much the same, one hen started whisteling and was clearly misjudged as a hen... I picked up some more hens (from a friend of mine that knew better than the store-owner)

Only thing he got right was the zebra-finches (not that hard, since they look different) But they started breeding like crazy.

At work I told about my birds (being excited how could I not) and one colleague asked me if I was willing to adopt his sons birds. (3 more budgies a finch and 2 cockatiels) I was happy to do so and after visiting him started reading up on cockatiels.

One thing led to another and I decided I'd get some more cockatiels for the pair of males that were coming. I ended up with 3 males and 3 females in the end.

This year I read on a dutch forum about a guy moving to the U.S. who didn't want to put his birds through a 30day quarantine and long travel times towards the U.S. so offered to adopt them. Thus I ended up with my current flock.

Thats a happy story I had 2 hamsters I got rid if them because they were keeping Rocko awake at night and he wasnt getting enough sleep.Plus they are hard work so I gave them away.
