Congratulations, you probably saved his life... Who knows what would have happened to him if you didn't offer a home for him! The fact that he's quarantined will turn out to be a good thing, in a week or two. He's on his own and once he calms down and feels safe you'll be able to interact one to one. I'm not sure how many days he's been with you, if it's a few days only I suggest that you let him be, getting acquainted with the new environment, and just talk to him without trying to touch him. It's too early and he doesn't trust you, if I was him I wouldn't either, no offence intended With time, he will love you and trust you completely! Seeing a rescued bird flourish is for me one of the greatest joys of life , again well done!!!!! Sent from my XT1039 using Tapatalk

bebe is whistling and chatting some in the AM. he is very addicted to his wrap around mirror, his security blanket. he has his face in the mirror every second I'm in the room. he is still snappy. he is eating but not a lot. I have tried soft foods but he is afraid of them. hopefully he learn to try it once he is out of quarantine.

Il expect him to be afraid of his shadow, he reminds me of my Bimbo. He spent his first month (maybe a little more) here sitting in front of his little mirror, I swear to you he looked like a little statue, always looking into the mirror for reassurance. He was wary of EVERYTHING, even though I knew from his history that he used to sit with his human, watch telly together and share an apple. Food? Forget it, everything was too big. Toys? Get out of here, they are huge and move! I even had to use his old stained dishes otherwise he'd refuse to go near them. I knew he was in mourning for his dead owner and it did break my heart to see him so disoriented.
I cut all food in miniscule pieces and found out that broccoli and the yellow flowers from the garden were acceptable. As Tielfan says, millet spray was irresistible but he only wanted a little bit inside the cage (again, too big and scary).
You need so much patience, but you'll be rewarded once he start feeling safe in your home. If you find out that he really likes millet spray, soon you'll be able to do some trust exercises with him, these guys are greedy and food driven (usually). He might come to accept your hand in the cage if it's carrying millet spray. From then on, it's gonna be a much easier job.
I'm really curious to know if he likes it! And I suggest small broccoli pieces, my guys go mad for them!

he has millet sprays in his cage, it's about the only thing he is eating. I make my own chop, birdy oatmeal, mashed sweet potatoes. I'm growing broccoli on my deck this summer. I have 11 pots planted everything from A-Z veggie wise, it needs to get sunny warm.

I live in apt building and have small deck. I'm allowed to have no more then 10 pots. the 11th will have to been hidden but the last 2 are small pots, they can be brought inside. one pot will be morning glories for me.

The building doesn't let more, or there isn't enough room?
