Budgies have big clutches too. 8 to 10 eggs if I remember right. That's about twice as much as cockatiels.

I noticed most animals with short life spans breed pretty easy. Budgies, goldfish, hamsters.
Rats too

Budgies put the "we" in weird too though. My female, Cloud, has been in love with the bars of the bird cage since she was a wee thing and now that she's in breeding condition, it's rather embarrassing to watch. She has two very eligible bachelors to choose from too, one that she used to love (Ninja) until Waffles came on the scene and their bromance bloomed. Maybe it's because I don't give them a nest box or anything that she just isn't interested in the boys, I dunno. She does like to pester poor Coyote though, I don't know if she's trying to woo him or what but she does stuff like grab one of his tail feathers or just following him around on top of the cage and stuff. Not aggressively or anything, just like she has a little flirt thing going on with him. He wants nothing to do with her and he tells her so all the time.

I don't know about budgies, but when a cockatiel hen follows a male around it's love. Mims followed Vlad around for about two years before he finally decided to accept her as his girlfriend, then Snowy started following him and he accepted her too. Now he has two mates who are horny virgins because he can't figure out what to do with them, but they don't want any other male.

Ok, what's his deal? Is he just clueless or uncoordinated or what? LOL
(no offense meant, Vlad!)

I wouldn't be criticizing Vlad's inability to preform. He does have a Vladinator stick after all.

"I'll let you guys know how it goes with the budgies. I hear they have the sex drive of an Engerizer bunny."
Piper certainly did when he was with Emma. Since he's been with Winter, there hasn't been any mating (thank god!). They get along well and sometimes preen each other, though. It's funny how Piper's like a different bird, depending on who he's paired with.

Vlad is totally clueless. He eventually figured out that he's supposed to stand on the hen's back but he can't figure out what to do after that. At first he would stand on her back until her legs collapsed from the weight and catapulted him off, but now he has a new technique that doesn't have this disadvantage. When the hen (usually Snowy, but sometimes Mims) backs up to a low perch to masturbate, he'll stand on her tail/lower back and let the perch support his weight. It doesn't fertilize any eggs but probably feels a little bit like a genuine sexual experience to the hen.

I love Vlad (apart from his hands). I think he would fit perfectly with my wild band of brothers

Vlad's a bad boy all right. He does make a very good foster daddy and right now he has a nest to take care of. He may suck at fertilizing eggs but he's the most ferocious nest defender in the house. If I want to put my hand in his breeding cage, I have to get a hand towel and we have a bullfighting match with it, with me as the matador and him as El Toro. I think he actually enjoys fighting with the towel because he occasionally breaks out into happy chirps in the middle of it all. After a little wrestling I grab him with the towel and put him in the bird room, and get on with the cage maintenance with him safely out of the way.
