Jan wrote: Brandon.... I've 3 P'lets... 2 girls... 1 male... Sky... Mini... and Scooby...I've had them for over 7 years now....I'm no expert only what I know from mine and reading about them.. I've pm... a site for you to look at or join on P'lets...Ok my findings on P'lets....
Sky and Mini were kept in the same cage, bought together... they got on very well till Mini had an accident, now Sky will attack her if she isn't watched... Mini is not aggressive but has to be watched as she will bite, and hard on times... Sky.... she hates me always has... will bite me very hard given the chance... Saying this... my daughter comes home after being away for 6 months, puts her hand in Sky's cage and the bird is totally different with her.... soft loving and has never bitten her at all... Why she is this way I don't know.... Scooby... is 7 years old also...so different from the girls. He is soft, cuddly... and has never bitten any of us... all 3 are different..... P'lets a quiet bird.... Scooby chats the girls don't....they are very cage territorial..... I wouldn't be without them... but my luv is a tiel.... Mine are chipped as they zoom around so fast... You have to be very careful with them as they can fall behind anything or hide...mine have fallen down behind the radiator...cupboards...into a cup of water... they have to be monitored every minute they are out of the cage.... I say go for it but just watch, be careful around other birds.. Sorry this was so long....let us know how it goes... Thanks for the information ill check the pm now. What do you prefer Male or Female I want to get a Male.I saw how they fly on youtube.Lets say I didnt clip the wings and he wouldnt go back in his cage how would you catch him if hes so fast

Jan wrote: Yes they stay small.... Back to there cage..... well the best thing to do until they are trained... is probably to towel them... or wait till they tire...Will email the www to you.... I prefer a male bird... What colour are you having? There is there are 3 types if P'lets I know about... Celestial or Pacific P'let.... Which I have... Spectacle P'let.... slightly smaller than mine and more calm.. Green Rump... small again...rather timid... They are hand reared so will be tame already im getting Green or Blue im leaning towards Green the Males look cool. Its a Pacific (Celestial) I cant wait till Friday now im getting his cage soon I was looking at cage sizes on the forum you gave me the link to he will be out of his cage all the time and I heard they like swings. My mam is allowing me to keep him downstairs so he wont be in my bedroom with the tiels.

tielfan wrote: It would be dangerous to keep him out of the cage ALL the time because you can't spend every waking moment supervising him. Please re-read Jan's comments about their tendency to get into trouble. I've heard from others too that parrotlets like to explore and end up in some very odd places, often resulting in their death.
I've heard that accidents are a much bigger cause of death for p-lets than it is for other species. The combination of their tiny size and their bold, fearless attitude is a recipe for trouble, and it has a major effect on their life expectancy. Yes thats what I mean he will be out all the time with my supervision except when im in school im always at home and if im out he will be in his cage but most of the time he will be out when im at home watching him. Also what to people mean when they say some dont live to their natural age.
