My budgie Jail Bird was my first bird, so I learned a tad about them. When she died I got Beck, but he wanted a friend after his lovebird buddy died right after JB because he loved her so much, so I got him Mackenzie. Mackenzie was the worst. She made me not like budgies anymore and even worse, Beck learned to act like her. After several incidents, she had to be rehomed. It took Beck a long time to go back to being himself. But since Beck is really opening up to me now, I can tell all he wants is a good friend (and I'm making sure this one is a good influence). I hope it works out, I really do.

Budgies are great birds. The males in particular are more hyper and active than cockatiels, and they chatter a lot but can't achieve the ear-piercing volume that a cockatiel shriek has. They give you a lively show to watch. The average budgie is a little more aggressive than the average cockatiel but they aren't super aggressive like lovebirds and parrotlets. They come in such pretty colors too. I'd like to have a budgie (and a few other species too) but I have too many birds already.

Pretty much everything you said is opposite in my house. Beck's pretty quiet, unless he is flirting with a toy or hears a random bird shriek outside that catches his attention. Otherwise he learned the tiels' noises, but performs them quietly. He is super passive and pretty friendly. The cockatiels are crazy active, loud, pushy and demanding. They love to push my buttons and be naughty and try not to get caught. Beck is an angel compared to those boys!

Every bird has their own personality and they haven't read the information on how they're supposed to behave, so some of them break all the rules. English budgies are said to be more laid back than 'American' parakeets who are closer to the wild type. Beck doesn't look like an English budgie but he could have a personality like one.

If you want another budgie when I breed mine I should get about the same results as the breeder you found. I'll give you one for free as a companion. This is months down the road but keep it in mind if you dad won't let you get one now.
