Aww Vlad. Clueless but lovable and, apparently, ferocious.

All the other birds will sit tight in the nestbox and hiss at me if I lift the lid and look inside. Vlad flies up at my face and attacks. If I look in the nestbox while he's in the cage, he charges into the nestbox and flies at my face through the open lid. If I look in the nestbox while he's on top of the cage, he jumps on my head and starts hammering on it with his beak while making angry noises. Now that's just plain funny, it doesn't hurt or anything. But every now and then he remembers that I'll stop laughing if he goes after an ear. I hate it when that happens.

Bio did the same thing! He would always fly to the best box opening and threaten to bite me if my hand got too close. He eventually got used to me so I was able to handle the chicks in the nest box while he was in it. Marshmallow was a monster though. I remember giving her head scratches while she was in the nest box. She used to try and jump at my finger but she only nipped it. I think I eventually got her used to me as well.

Mims and Snowy are very gentle in the nest - they don't even hiss at me, they just rock a little bit. I can even pet Mims' head in the nest, which is something that she won't let me do outside the nest. She has never warmed up to humans very much.
