She probably "checked" other boards and found this thread.

Boards are read by a lot of people, and you don't have to be a member to read most forums, and it is certainly possible that somebody reads and then wants to join the conversation (for example tielfan joining the other board), so her suspicions IMO means she read this thread.

She wasn't on this thread I told her that I know Carolyn.

I missed that comment and I know why. Her comments are so long, tedious and generally not related to the main point that I just skim over them looking for something relevant and generally not finding it.

I expected from the start that she couldn't back up her claims but would never admit she was wrong. I've been talking to people about bird nutrition for several years, and it's ALWAYS that way when someone claims to know a lot about nutrition but insists that pellets are bad for birds. These people are operating on preconceived notions and the way they want the world to be, not an open mind and the willingness to face a truth that isn't what they want. There's 40 years of widespread experience with pellets which shows that they're good for most birds.

Well I've kissed off that group. I've got copies of my last posts in case they disappear.

I just realized something beautiful. If Paj isn't a moderator, that means she can't delete my posts or ban me. If it's going to be done it will have to be Wolf that does it, which means he will have to read my comments first. He seems like a reasonable guy, and I do want him to see my comments on the baselessness of the claims that are being made. It'll probably make him think twice about saying stuff like that in the future. I don't care whether he deletes anything or bans me as long as he gets some food for thought first.

P.S. While the discussion was going on I didn't want to play along with the attempt to change the subject with topics like B12 production. But just for funsies I looked up the location of B12 production in birds this morning. Here's the info in case anyone is interested.

http://articles.extension.org/pages/653 ... ive-system
"the ceca produce several fatty acids as well as the eight B vitamins (thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid, pyridoxine, biotin, folic acid, and vitamin B12). Because the ceca are located so close to the end of the digestive tract, however, few of the produced nutrients are absorbed and available to the chicken."

Most birds and herbivore mammals have ceca, which are located at the point where the small intestine connects to the colon (large intestine). Parrots don't have ceca because they've 'learned' to get by without them, but their digestive process is similar to other species in all other respects so they'll have their B12 production in this same region. I didn't realize that so many other B vitamins were produced here too, so B12 might not be the only reason a bird might want to eat poop. But seeds and grains are pretty good at providing most B vitamins.

Now she's saying that it's better for uneducated people who don't know what they're doing to play around with vitamin supplementation, instead of using a product that was professionally formulated to provide the correct amount. That's just crazy talk, but I'm staying out of it.

That's crazy. Don't play with birds vitamin needs. I agree on you staying out of it. She hasn't supported any of he claims she has made.

The funny part is that I said yesterday that the group was spreading baseless information (referring to things she said), and she didn't disagree. So it's semi-official now that she's just pulling information out of her heinie and flapping her lips about it.

Haha. It's true that she gets defensive with other people when they question her statements but she piped down when you showed up.
