I gave Buster and Shodu the nestbox tonight. Shodu was starting to sit in a place that's not suitable for egg laying so I gave her a place where she could do it right. I don't expect her to actually lay any eggs for a few days.

They had two clutches last year, for a total of ten chicks. That's how I got Teela, Squeebis and Snowy! Teela and Squeebis just turned 1 year old, and Snowy's birthday is in May.

Have you bred your Bourke's before?

I've never played with a Bourkes at all but they look awfully sweet. Pretty too, although the Rosey Bourkes are so popular that I rarely see any of the other colors.

Wow. What kind of babies do you get when you cross a blue with a rosie? That's a real question, not a riddle!

I hadn't heard about the flight sounds before, so I did a quick search and learned that bourke's make a pleasant whistling sound with their wings when they fly. Must be cool! All cockatiels do is make a regular old flapping sound, but the wild doves outside make a whirring sound when they fly. I always thought it was kind of weird, because it seems like it would attract the attention of predators.

tielfan...I noticed in you pic that MIMS tail is "curly"?? can't really tell...but it's cute.
I'm not sure the colors..other than what i've been told. I hope they are both colors. there are always surprises. I have a pair of Blue parrotlets that their last clutch gave me whites and pastels..didn't know I'd get those. I had a green pair that gave me a green baby w/ lots of bule and YELLOW speckles..didn't see that one comin either. Thats one of the joys about breeding...I get all the surprises :cheery:
I have a pair of greens. the male is pied...can't wait til they start laying. I jsut set them up to breed..so maybe in a few months we'll get a HUGE surprise there too.
