Well I've tried and I cant post a pic..
Ive done it lots of times before...but no luck yet..I'm coming from photo bucket doing it, says... its invalid!
Darn computers! I'll get it there soon....

the only thing that comes to my mind is that the pic you are trying o use exceeds the size allowed for avatars.
In almost every forum an avatar pic has to be quite small, and it happened to me to go crazy for like one hour trying to understan why my pic wasn't accepted.
Let me check for you.

Yes it says

Maximum dimensions; width: 120 pixels, height: 120 pixels, file size: 6.00 KiB.

I used one that's px 110 X px 103, which is even too small, i think, but at least it worked.

Let me know if resizing the pic works for you

I've never used the 'upload from a url' or the 'link offsite' options, but the 'upload from your machine' option has always worked for me. Assuming that your avatar is within the size limits, try saving it to your desktop and uploading it from there. Once you get it into your profile it will be saved there and you can delete it from the desktop.

Lately the board has been persnickety about urls and sometimes it rejects one completely. I wonder if there's a programming glitch in the update that was just released.

I was able to post pics from flickr today though, so it's definitely getting better!

Photobucket has an editing function that lets you resize pictures. If you can't figure it out on your own, I'll check it out and write a step by step explanation.
