You might be thinking of platinum - that's only available in Australia. There are some other Australia-only mutations too but platinum seems to be the one that's best known. I'm not too sure about the distribution of the silver mutations but I get the impression that they're relatively widespread (although not common anywhere). In other words, there aren't a whole lot of them but I think they're spread out in a lot of different countries.

Very beautiful colouring in your bird...
Looks a healthy bird also...
As for sleeping in the feed pot.... mine sleeps on a flat block
of wood made into a perch....
My other on the swing! They find where they are most comfy...

Thank you guys. Wow thats interesting information, you can throw whatever yoiu like at me but after asking around I dont think I will ever want to breed him, someone told me that they go wild and you can never tame them or hold again=( Eyes are not red guess the pic just made them look like that. Still itching has a little scab on the end of his wing but nothing that looks too major. Trying to make him bathe and hope that help.

If the eyes aren't red then dominant silver sounds good. It's not true that breeding your bird will make him wild. This might possibly be true of some species but it's generally NOT true of cockatiels. Shodu has had 34 babies and she still loves me more than she loves her mate. I think the only reason she hangs around with him is because he can give her babies and I can't lol. During the actual breeding period your birds will not be very interested in you because they have more important business to take care of, and if you stick your hand in the nest they will threaten you and maybe bite you because protecting the nest is a huge natural instinct. But after the babies are weaned you'll go back to your regular relationship. Pip and Ladybug weren't tame when I got them, and they actually became tamer while they were breeding. I think it's because they recognized that I was helping them out by giving them nice fresh food half a dozen times a day.

If there's a scab on the wing he must have slightly injured it somehow; knocking a wing feather loose during a night fright is very common.

Cockatiels usually hate bathing at first but then they learn to like it. The easiest way to bathe a reluctant tiel is to spray mist above his head so it falls down like rain. If the bird is in the cage he can't run away from it and will sit there and sulk (be sure to take the seed/pellets out before you spray water in the cage area). But after a few baths the bird will realize that the spray is actually pretty nice, and start spreading his wings and tail to catch more of the droplets. Like this:

Oh, well then that might change things a little would be awesome for me and my daughter to raise little babies=) Awww that picture is cute. I tried to spray up in air with it on my finger took 2 sprays and he actually jumped off lol, in cage sounds much better. Today he actually perched and took a nap, not in his food=p Thank you for all the info and going out of your way with it. Getting some oat spray, pellets and nutriberries soon try to make him eat something other than seed and millet=p :cheery: :thanks:

The pellets are likely to be a long learning experience unless he learned to eat them as a baby. The Zupreem Fruit Blend pellets tend to be the kind cockatiels like best because of the bright colors. The artificial coloring is also the reason that owners aren't so keen on it, but a not-totally-perfect pellet that a bird will actually eat is a thousand times better than a perfect pellet that a bird won't eat. There are tips for convincing a bird to eat new foods at http://www.littlefeatheredbuddies.com/i ... rsion.html

Give your bird a good spritz, also you
can add Aloe Vera to the spray... helps to relieve itching...
( only a little Aloe Vera to the water)
Another beautiful photo tielfan....
None of my birds will eat pellets..given up trying...

The silver-white color in the picture is water droplets reflecting the light from the camera flash. It's an interesting effect, like the bird has been frosted.
