wow there are probably 20 birds or more that need rehoming in the Pittsburgh area. I was looking at one. It's a rosy bourke keet. Can I keep a bourke in the same cage as my budgues? And the guy is asking $75 is this a good deal for a rosy bourke?

Man there is an African grey for $900 with everything. There's also a red head amazon I think it was called with everything for $4oo. Seems like everyone is trying to get rid of birds in this area there's even a parrotlet for sale. It's crazy to me why you would get any animal if you're not sure you can care for it.

There's a major problem with unwanted birds pretty much everywhere. The smaller birds are generally inexpensive so people treat them as disposable. The larger parrots are harder to handle than most people realize, and they live for 40 years and up. A lot of people who buy these birds just can't cope.

I'm not well-informed about rosy bourke prices, but the internet seems to indicate that $100-150 is fairly typical for a handraised baby, and $40-80 for an untame parent-fed bird.

The ad says it's hanfed and the babies are an unwanted accident. Maybe this could be my last bird i'm going to get. I have 2 more cages but one needs repainted and the other is my cage i'm going to use for quarantine.

The sad thing is when I see the unwanted birds' living condition. Most of it is pretty bad. I saw a poor cockatiel with its cage on the floor and a huge pit bull was staring at it. Poor thing looked scared.

I would be scared too lol. Do you know if a rosy bourke can be kept in a aviary with a couple of budgies?

Aviary? Sure. Cage? Nope. Rosy's are very mind-their-own-business types of birds, but can be bullied like tiels. But since you have an aviary, it should be fine.

I made a small indoor aviary out of part of my spare bedroom. My budgies love being in it but I still put them in their cage for sleep because they're loud when in the aviary lol.

I've always wanted to do that. So I can take them out to spend time with me and put them back in a nice roomy aviary when I have something to do.

it's not too bad. My aviary is about 4ft by 12ft. It only cost me about $50 bucks to do because I already had a lot of the stuff to make it. I would imagine you could make one for about $100 if you didn't have anything to start with. The worst part of it is trying to keep the floor of it clean. They seem to find the on spot not covered by newspaper everytime lol.
