I found this great website... which only mocks me. Why must you be $4000-$8000? I can't even afford a Blue Crown conure let alone a toucan!

If they're only eight grand the price has come down. A few years ago they were $20,000. Toucans are hard to breed. They're very very sensitive to iron and it doesn't take much to kill them with iron storage disease. They're also sensitive to any disturbance in the nest area, and will end the breeding attempt by eating their babies if they get nervous.

I do remember the iron sensitivity. But I didn't know that about breeding. I saw a toucanette at The Bird Shop once and he was pretty cool, but he sold fast. Now they have a kookaburra they can't sell because he's a brat and nobody wants him. Plus he only likes men. I wasn't aware of this and he snapped down on my hand so hard. It felt like a ruler smacked me. Plus I don't think most people would pay $2000 for a kookaburra with an attitude.

I remember seeing one for sale on Craigslist about a month ago and they wanted $30,000 but you got the cage and everything with it. Sorry but if I bought a toucan for 30k I wouldn't have a house to keep it in lol.
