I have just been put on a waiting list for a baby parrotlet! I'm so excited! I don't know a lot about them....if you guys could help me, thad be great. Do they bight harder then other birds? Do they talk? Is $100.00 reasonable for a baby?

Parrotlets are famous for their outsized personalities, like an Amazon parrot in a tiny body. That's not always good, they tend to be fearless and aggressive and don't hesitate to attack birds that are bigger than they are. When they attack something like a macaw or a cockatoo the parrotlet tends to get killed, and when they attack something like a budgie or a cockatiel it's the other bird that tends to get killed. I wouldn't know who to bet on in a fight between a parrotlet and a lovebird lol. So BE CAREFUL about letting the parrotlet interact with your other birds, and always supervise.

They have tiny beaks so it's not physically possible for them to do too much damage to a human when they bite. But even a tiny beak can cause pain, and I didn't enjoy it when I got nailed by a parrotlet. But if I had to choose between getting a parrotlet's hardest bite or a cockatiel's hardest bite, I'd pick the parrotlet. A smaller beak can't grab as much flesh lol.

They're fairly quiet birds (meaning noise level) and can't deliver an ear-piercing shriek the way a cockatiel can. When it comes to their activity level they seem to be pretty hyper, and I've heard that they'll try to eat anything and play with anything, including food and toys made for macaws.

I think parrotlets are adorable and their bad-boy reputation is part of their charm. But if I had one I'd keep it away from the cockatiels.

P'lets.... where do I start...
Cheeky, fun loving, pretty, noise level quieter than a budgie or tiel... luv to be cuddled,....
very pretty colours...
You can only keep 2 together... they can fight, but the next minute they are cuddled up together..
Down side, their bite is painful, and draws blood most times... they think they are amazon's, and will tackle anything...
Mine....
I have 3....
2 female and a male... I don't breed they are pets...I've had them nearly 7 years now.
The 2 girls: I have to handle with a soft pair of gloves on, they don't like me very much, why, I don't know... the little boy is a sweetie, never bites and I can do anything with him.. the girls will bite me the first chance they get...
Saying this, my daughter who is away for 4 months at a time, comes home and can do anything with the 2 girls, so I guess its just who they like and don't like....
My advise to you would be, train them well and don't let them do what they want, as they will try it on...
Plets are a joy to watch and one of mine chats...
they eat the same foods/seed/vegies, as my tiel's and budgie..
Go for it, I'm sure it will be good.
What colour are you having?
Male or female? Make sure the bar spacing on your cage is no more than 1/4inch, as they can wriggle out of most things, and easily get trapped. Buy the largest cage you can, longer length wise, more so than height wise.
P'lets luv lots and lots of toys are they play a lot.
I'll be interested to follow your post on how you get on etc... If you have any question please ask away I'll help any way I can....
I wouldn't be with out mine, I luv them even if they don't luv me much...LOL...
Good luck. I hope this has helped a little...
Exciting times ahead...

They are pacific p'lets. I want an all blue one. The breeder get yellow, blue, green, and white with his pair, but the white and yellow are for 200.00 a piece. Twice the price of blue or green. Is it true with p'lets that the boys talk better? How are p'lets at learning to talk? I'm only getting one, its all I can afford right now! Will having my budgies and tiels effect the bird's bonding with me? Sorry I have so many questions.....

The holiday you're thinking of is a special day, like Christmas or 4th of July. In Britain, a holiday means a vacation.
