He is very handsome! I went to see him this afternoon, and even though he's got this martyr face and doesn't move from his corner he has the "signature" stare that impressed me so much when I first saw one last year in a bird sanctuary. I am trying to get as much info as I can but there is an overwhelming number of websites dedicated to these birds and I am wasting a lot of time skimming through. Do you know of the best place to gather information about their care? I don't even know if they like to sleep on a perch or in a hut He hasn't got any toys, or anything else to indicate what he would like. Stephanie, if you want to share I would like very much to hear about your experience, I am sure it will help me.

Well, the one I worked with was a young one, and we all know how obedient baby birds are. He would bow for scritches and and he a cuddle bunny. I didn't work with an adult that later came in, but her name was Chiquita and she was about 20 years old. The other person who worked with her said she only liked women, and was also affectionate, but she was an attention hog one minute, then later, wanted to play independently. She was semi-vocal and yes, she was nippy and would not hesitate to bite if the world didn't pay attention to her. My baby was much gentler.

I will take him home tomorrow, and i'm quite excited but also nervous because I want to do the best for him (or maybe he's a girl, the sex is unknown), but my short experience with the conures made me wary. They are a confrontational type of bird; I am a confrontational type of person myself... The two don't mix well lol. So I hope he's nothing like them. And if he is... I will need a lot of meditation and relaxing techniques I will update as soon as he's settled tomorrow.
