To reaching my dream bird. My parents said I CAN get a blue crown conure, but I have to save up all the money myself, which so happens to be about $400-500. Fortunately, I have my birthday and Christmas coming up, and I am hard to buy for, so I hope I'll be given some money. I think I already have $100 saved, and I just got another $20 today for Easter from my grandma, so I'm hoping in a year or 2, I can get one. And I have to get my driver's licence.

I certainly hope so. I would work, but my health doesn't allow it for now. But I'm going to make sure the BBC is a good friendly one. And I found a great cage on Amazon for $80. It's just a tiny bit smaller than Beaker and Jaid's, who have the F040, but it's built tougher, which is good, those guys got a big beak on them!

Stephanie, what about putting your name down on every possible rescue list? Big and small, cheap and very expensive birds get dumped every day all around the world, even if you had to pay for air transportation it would still come way cheaper than that. I have a black headed caique lodging with us right now, price is steep but if I wanted to adopt him it would cost a fraction of a fraction. I know that they are more common but still I think that if you go through the rescue route it might take less time

Uh oh, I heard the ear piercing scream of one finally. I was watching videos on YouTube and I didn't think it would get that loud until I found this one:

phpBB [video]

That's a big NO. It's my dream bird, but I don't think I can handle that in my tiny house every time I walk in. :(

I may lessen my search to a pineapple GGC instead. They have the same personality, but smaller and less loud. I can handle that noise. In addition, it's several hundred dollars cheaper and more abundant in my area. Either way, it still won't be until 5 months to a year.

I once babysat a pineapple GCC for two months. He was a little nippy, but adorable. Conures behave very differently than cockatiels and budgies and it was a lot of fun to watch. This is how he took a bath:

That bird has a loud call on him....
My guess is you need him in a big space...
His call would drive me nuts!

Yes, and the house is made of bricks, so the sound bounces right off the walls right back to us. The bird would probaly make itself deaf.

But yes, I think a greencheek would be a better idea for me. Either way, it's going to be a long time until I reach the decision. For now, I need to care for the specks and keep up on B and Jaid.

Our local bird mart was yesterday, and someone was selling blue crowns for $200 each. I don't know if they were tame or not, but my guess would be not.

A different vendor had rosy bourkes for $75. Someone on the forum recently said they were interested in bourkes.
